One of the things I've enjoyed the most about pursuing my degree is how my confidence has grown. When you try new things and even if you don't succeed the way you'd like at first - you realize that you are a capable person and you can learn and grow with each new experience.
I began my higher education journey almost 30 years ago. I have dreamed of the day when I could actually say "I have a college degree!" It has been something that has been nagging at me nearly every day since I left school the first time. With lots of twists and turns in my life, and three kids later, I am almost there!
Best of luck to each of you this semester!
I am also a General Studies Major! I find it very intriguing that I can focus my bachelor’s degree on more than just one discipline. My concentrations are in Health Studies and Business. I agree with you that being healthy is important with exercise and healthy eating habits as a must for this to happen. To be completely honest I never thought I would have 2 kids before graduating from college, but it can be done! I look forward to being your fellow classmate this semester!
ReplyDeleteHi Brandie!
DeleteCongratulations on achieving this with 2 kids! It is NOT easy at all...but it is so worth it. I also feel like I am more in tune with my own kids and their education. I admire you focusing on business. I wish more women held positions as managers or business owners. I wish you all the best!

I completely understand that "nagging feeling" that you get about school. I wish I would've just stuck to it and finished after graduating high school like everyone else did but I chose to live life first and work. I'm not saying it was a bad decision but it would have been easier to accomplish. The real triumph lies in the diploma that you will soon hold in your hands. Also when you get to say, "College? Piece of cake. I did it while I was a wife, mother and working."
ReplyDeleteHi Celeste. Thanks so much for writing. I am totally new to this whole blogging thing but I think I'm going to love it!
DeleteI understand your decision to not jump into college right after high school. I think that now, though, you will appreciate your education so much more. I believe you will actually be ahead of the game compared to your peers because you have lived life and gained some work experience.
Best of luck to you this semester and in the future!
